Hi, really nice work.

Is there any way to make this plugin to work with openstreetmap.org

Thanks a lot.

Daniel.

Hi damendieta,

Thanks for pointing out the Open Street Map project! Unfortunately this plugin will not work with that map because all of the function calls are using the Google API. It would have to be a different plugin - so maybe that will be a future project.

thanks

Hi, you are welcome.

Openstreetmap is a really good project, let's you personalize your maps as you wish and you can add all the info you need.

It has really big advantages over google maps and the maps are really accurate. I hope that in the future it will be possible to work with it.

Bye.

Hi,
Perhaps : don't fill "marker folder" field, let it empty.

Has anyone made progress on the display of a page with all the markers? Otherwise, an idea to generate a kml file from a SQL query or a search result on the field of geolocation?

I did not understand ... inside the images folder exists a folder called icons and the file is marker.png

Hi!

@gracekweb - Glad to see that you got it working. Your problem was probably because you were trying to use the marker folder and the marker image which contained a full URL to the image. It is set up so that you can add a folder that is on the server and just the icon name.

@kermit - What do you mean about displaying a page with all markers? How are you trying to use this plugin?

thanks

@rpoy :

I have a site that lists the gardens of the region. On each garden's page i use your plugin. I like to have a page with the overview map of all gardens.

Hello rpoy,

First, thank you for your hard work.
I'm trying to test your plugin to see if I can add it to my Tourist Guide website.
I read the manual you posted, and, if I'm not mistaken, there may be some info missing for the method 2 for creating maps, where the child controls the information.

I'm not really sure where to start, so please forgive the stupid questions, but I couldn't figure this out:

  1. How do I add the fields to an existing content type? In method 2, you suggest using Simons Concatenate field. Can this concatenate and save to something different than title? The title, in my content type, will be the name of the tourist attraction (beach, resort, restaurants, rides, etc).
  2. How and what do I fill in the form to create a new Parent map? More specifically, what to enter in rpStaticMapControl and Address (maybe I'm in the wrong parent content type or need to create my own)?
  3. I'd like for each venue to have it's own map, but it would need to list anything related to that area
  4. I'd like to have in the front page a country map with all the items listed, with different markers for each type of content (hotel, restaurant, bar, beach, etc)

Will you help me get this done?

Hello there,

I want to create a form which fetches the users actual location via html5, so the article created by the user is automatically geotagged and shown on a single map with all the other articles created by other users. People should be able to click the markers on the map and be taken to the article. Is your plugin capable of that?

Thank you, for your development.

Hi!

@ramonsodoma

What are the fields in the existing content type?

The only reason that I am using Simon's Concatenate field plugin is so that I can have a content type that asks for each address component: number, street, city, state, zip. The concatenate plugin then puts them together into a field. The Google Map plugin can then take that string and return the Latitude and Longitude which can be a bit cumbersome to look up. But if you know the Latitude and Longitude you can just use that instead of an address. In your case you might only need a single address field to enter the city, state and don’t need to concatenate anything.

The title can be anything that you want – it doesn’t need to be an address. This is just the way that I use this plugin and thought that everyone else would do the same. Your way is a little bit different and just fine too.

If you want a static map then you can just enter the address or longitude/latitude into the control when you are setting up the Seblod content type. This would be a good way to set up a single parent map for a country on the front page.

For each “interest” I would set up a Seblod content type which would include a map.

@sivation

At this point, I don’t think there is a way to do that. I am currently working on the next version which will allow you to add an info box which could have a link in it back to the article. But to get the user information that might be a bit tricky – I’ll have to think about it.

thanks
