I created a new content type and used the category skeleton. I can add custom text fields to the category and they work fine. But if I add other fields like "file" or a "field x" and edit a category, those values will not be saved.
My questions are:
- Are certain fields not supported for categories?
- Is it a bug?

All fields should be working on all storages, what did you set its storage to? FOr category you need to create new file or group x field, you cannot reuse a field from article based content type as those have its storages set to article.

I reused a field from an article based content type. Now, with a new one it is working!
