I'm getting a contact form via search, list, the detail selection (content view) and the forwarding of a variable into a form field. Everything ok!
In the Site Form Configuration (for Site Form view) I selected 'Message' for Message Style, 'Content' for Redirection, a text for the Message (Thanks) and the target menu position within 'Menu Item (List)'. After the submit the message is displayed properly but instead of a redirection to the target menu position there is a redirect to the content view (the detail selection before I call the contact form).

Hi,
what you are getting is the correct behaviour, "'Content' for Redirection" means that you are redirecting to content view. TYou need to use URL option and enter desired url there. You can see correct url of some menu if you turn off SEF urls.

I tested a lot of variations. At the end it is the following situation:
- with 5 forms it works correct - all these forms are direct opened forms without any variables from another source
- with 2 forms it still doesn't works - those forms have variables from a detail (content) view. If I submit these forms then I remain on the same side after submit (instead of redirection to the thank-you-page
Any idea or proposal?

First of all we need to make clear if you are talking about Redirect APP or redirection after form submit?
If it is about form submit then this is not the right forum category.
I just tried your contact form and it redirected me back to the to the form.For form submit to go to certain menu you need to set redirection to URL , setting it to Content should always redirect to content view, menu option there is jsut to give redirection right Itemid and DOES NOT redirect to any menu.

It is redirection after form submit (to the thank you page). And I understand your message that I have to create a new item in another forum category. I guess it muss be the public category Forms & Content Types - isn't it? And for this functionality it should be redirection to URL - and that is what I did. But it doesn't works with the two forms I have fields filled out with variables. That's the only difference to the other forms where the redicrection after submit processes correct.
I moved topic for you. Forms should always go to the URL after submit if URL is specified as redirection unless there is some bug.
