Given the learning curve in Seblod, which I am liking a lot, what strategies are there to convert existing content from one storage type to another?  Likewise converting from locked to unlocked?  Seems like there are multiple ways to paint yourself into a corner without some kind of conversion process.

Hi joem,

Changing the storage types midstream is a bad thing as you are probably well aware of or found out!  I seem to remember Simon Dowdles talking about how important it is to invest the time upfront to map out how your content types should be stored.  But that is hard to do if you are learning mode.  I have had to rebuild several sites after finding myself in the "corner".

Depending on the data that you have entered, you can look at exporting your data using phpMyAdmin or SEBLOD Exporter, and then importing it back in to your new content type (phpMyAdmin or SEBLOD Importer).

If you are rebuilding a site, and you do have some good content types that you are satisfied with, don't forget that you can export them and import them back into your new site.  What it gets down to, is what is faster, trying to export/import or entering all the data again.  If you are building a complicated site, and need further assistance consider contacting Ocotpoos Directly.

Hope that helps,

Randy

Thanks Randy,

Yeah - I have been in out of the weeds with the data storage and management.  The Import/Export is pretty cool however has some problems when it comes to Group X data (at least from my limited experience with it). The luxury (budget) of planning isn't there these days like it was in the 90's. In hindsight it seems like it's best to start with your list and search list types for planning purposes?  That is where I am finding myself boxed in.
