Hi, Is it possible to set the upload folder's name based on article's month/date? I know that there's an option to set one folder for one content, but my website will create ton of contents so I'm worry if too many subfolders will generate serious performance problem to my server.

Currently no, easiest would probably be to create a modifed upload field (but you need a coder to do that).
