I am new to Seblod and not much of a developer. I created a form with fields at a specific width but when I open an existing article or try to create a new article the fields shrink.

where exactly did you set field width? Generally speaking this very much depends on your site and Seblod templates as its styles can override styles set by fields.

I set the field with in the form settings in the article content type. I set the column to 100.It works fine when previewing the site form but not the admin form.
Either Seblod css is not loaded in backed or backend template ovrerrides it's styles

You were correct, the Joomla template was overriding Seblod.
