Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before or rather simple, but I can't seem to get things to work.

I have created an Events Directory, and I have created a 'datetime' field called 'Event Start Date".

I need to create a Menu Item that shows a Blog layout of the Events. This will be created as a Seblod 'List & Search' type.

The problem, is that I need to 'sort/filter' the Events by the 'Event Start Date' datetime field.

Can you please explain how I can achieve this? I could tell you what I have done so far, but its probably easier just to ask for a quick how to....

P.S. I have read and watched many of your tutorials, and none of these has been able to solve my question..

In fact, when i click on the menu item i created called 'Events Blog', all I get is the name of the list and search types list, I have NO articles showing up (also a little more info:

In the List and Search types 'Events Blog' that i crated in Seblod, I have the following:

Search form = cck - select dynamic (this was auto added by Seblod)

Ordering = I added my datetime field here

List = it says "there is no position available for this view".

Item = I havent added anything here yet, as I need to get the Blog Layout working.

Template = seb_one

Style = seb_one - events_blog (item)

Question 2) In the Menu item I created, there is an option to sort by 'custom'. What do I enter in this field? would it be: event_start_date ? When I do this, i get lots of errors on a blank white page..many sql errors.

Hi austenn01,

its hard to say.. So a few things we need to know..

You do have events created and in the database?

You have selected a template for the blog view?

And filled out which fields to show in the intro-view and the full-view?

And it may help to set a fixed category in the list-search...

Greetings,

Joris

Hi austenn01,

Thank you for your post.

You can implement the feature you described by adding the field "Event start date" in the "ordering" view of your search type.

After that, please select option ascending.

Mehdi

Hello austenn01,

List = it says "there is no position available for this view".
Item = I havent added anything here yet, as I need to get the Blog Layout working.

This might be confusing, but you have to assign fields to the ITEM view.
By default the BLOG template has no positions for the list view, it makes use of the ITEM view.
In other words, the list consists of multiple articles (items).
Therefor each ITEM needs assigned fields and a layout. By default, this layout is done by the SEB ONE template.

Hi,

I don't speak about "list" or "item" views.

In a search type, you can find 4 views: search form, ordering, list and item. In my previous post i spoke about the "ordering" view of your search type.

Mehdi

Salut Mehdi, why your comment? I just answered to austenn01 and his initial post. Obviously he had also a basic problem with the listing. Hence the second line in my blockquote. If he does not assign fields to the item, he can't get any results.
