Is there a way to have a checkbox for each row on the list view, where any person can check it (it then gets disabled) and it then edits the content item and makes that checkmark checked? did that even make sense?
another way of saying it.
I would like to have a check box on the form. But I would like to be able to 'tick' that box from list view later on, and not have to open the form, tick the box and save, then go back to the list.
Is this possible?

You could build something like that using custom javascript code on client side and some server side script implementing cckContent classes to save/edit/delete data, but unfortunatelly there is nothing like that built in, at least for now.
